Thats all folks! Phase 5 and final product

Mantis - assistive focus glasses

Above: a rendering of the glasses in use

The past few weeks were spent in refining the concept of the glasses and the different elements that were included within them. During this time I spent preparing everything for our final grad show, which included a physical model, explanation boards and a video explaining product use (which can be found here).

The final product includes eye tracking and an infrared system to determine where others are located within their surrounding environment. This then changes the environment around them by relaying a visual overlay of their environment in order to help promote concentration and focus.

The product was inspired by different predators in nature. Their eyesight was used in order to focus in on their prey from a distance and maintain focus. The product also emulates a form of selective focus employed by the mantis shrimp, whose habits vary depending on the colours reflected off of its prey.

The product is only employed when you're in a group meeting or trying to do collaborative work with another person. The end goal being that the product conditions the user to work more effectively when they need to use face to face communication with one another.
