During these past few weeks of concept definition and exploration I have most definitely thought hard and long about the opportunity of what kinds of interactions and changes that augmented reality glasses can do. A lot of sketching and rough models were created during this phase in order to gain a greater understanding of the product (glasses) I am working with and the affordances that existing products have.

During initial exploration different concepts were sketched and made in order to help refine the form, size, interaction points and more. More research was done into the ergonomics of glasses and feedback was gained from peers in terms of size, form and weight.

The concept includes two cameras on the front of the lens which monitors the outside environment, taking it in and magnifying features of those in the immediate environment. This is so that the glasses can provide the user with appropriate visual feedback. An EEG band is hidden within the frame in order to monitor the brain activity of the user to see where their mind is and send a reminder to the user if they lose focus.
During the community consultation, professionals from other faculties in Carleton as well as designers in Ottawa came and gave us feedback on our projects. It was extremely helpful having feedback from others in providing other perspectives that are missed when surrounded by peers who have similar mindsets. While exploration allowed for me to try and see opportunities that haven't been done yet, it was a nice reminder during consultation that it all means nothing if it can't be feasibly made.
The next phase will involve the creation of multiple 'works-like' prototypes to convey the function of the glasses and their interaction points. There will also be more concept exploration into spaces that these glasses might occupy compared to existing products. It was mentioned during the consultation that the glasses have the opportunity to set a new standard in terms of shape and form as well as the opportunity space.
