These past couple of weeks have been in the user testing and
analysis phase. During this phase, myself and 3 other members of the group attended
the Toronto Offsite Festival. We attended a TO DO talk: Designing the Future of
Work, where presenters explained their ideas for future workplaces and how
technology will factor into daily life. We also visited exhibits and
installations around Toronto to get inspiration from other fields of design.
After this week, user testing was performed. Participants
were recruited via email correspondence and I set up one-on-one interviews to
complete my testing. The test included a physical prototype test as well as an
interview. The results yielded from these tests was very useful in determining the
next steps for the product. Users made it clear that the device should have two-way
communication functionality, as well as be as silent as possible while still
being strong enough to be noticed. The queuing process of the two-way
communication will need to be tested in the next phase, as features testing
will be performed.
